Pull for feedback with these questions.

Most of the time, it’s more effective to pull for feedback rather than waiting for someone to push it to you.


Here are the 3 questions I often ask to pull for such feedback:
  • What are you getting from me that helps/hurts/impedes?
  • What are you not getting from me that would improve your effectiveness?
  • What's one thing I am (not) doing that gets in my own way?

If someone is coming to you for help, be clear what they want. Ask:
Do you need me to get involved, offer advice, or just listen to you?
